Tell Me A Story…

…or more accurately, let me tell you a story.

I’ve decided I’d like to do something a little different here on the blog. Don’t worry, I’m still my “no direction, write by the seat of my pants” self. I’d just like to try a little something new, something that specifically pertains to my love of writing and allows the readers to read something they haven’t seen on this blog.

Fiction.

Here’s how it works. You, the readers, will leave comments telling me a little bit about how the story will go.

For example, I may ask you to give me a setting. Or tell me an odd quirk I’ll have to build into a character. I may ask you to vote on a variety of things that could happen.

It’s not exactly a Vote Your Own Adventure series (because my friend Jen Kirchner has done a pretty bang up job of that already). It’s more of a Night at the Improv, Mad Lib, writing prompt, and, okay, maybe a dash of Choose Your Own Adventure.

Why am I doing this?

For fun. To exercise the creative side of my brain. And possibly, entertain you all in the process.

So, here it goes.

First off, in the comments give me a setting. You can be fairly vague or detailed. At the end of the day, I’ll either randomly choose one of the settings OR if I’m feeling so compelled, have you all vote for which one.

Once I publish the first part of the story (to be posted on Thursday of this week) I’ll give you your next assignment at the end of the post.

Sound good?

That’s right. Nod those heads.

GO!

[ed. If you really love one of the settings contributed already, give it your support. That will help in the choosing process.]
